A healthcare regulatory body in Greater London is seeking a full-time Data and Insights Analyst. You will play a key role in the Research and Intelligence team, responsible for statistical analysis and managing sensitive datasets. We are looking for a full-time Data and Insights Analyst to join our Research and Intelligence team to work on using data across the HFEA including in statistical reports and our award-winning dashboards, as well managing preparation of large and sensitive datasets for specific research purposes.

The Data and Insights Analyst plays a key role inthe Research and Intelligence team and across the organisation in ensuring wefulfil our statutory and corporate responsibilities. They lead on externalofficial statistics publications and work with team members to quality assure data.The Analyst is responsible for extracting information from the register forinternal and external publications and preparing datasets for researchers with approvals from the RegisterResearch Panel. The Data and InsightsAnalyst will also prepare data for use in policy decisions to improve the waywe regulate, and in response to public enquiries. Within the HFEA, the Analystis responsible for providing regular, useful and accurate extracts of registerdata and providing methodological advice on data projects and publications. You will need to have extensive experienceof statistical analysis in a healthcare setting to be considered for this role.

The HFEA has recently launched a new datasubmission system and completed a data migration project, to modernise theregister. This presents an exciting opportunity to make better use of ourregister data and enable greater access to it over time. This will include contributingto updates to our award-winning HFEAdashboard, and improving use ofour data in our functions in regulating licensed fertility clinics.
Keyresponsibilities
1.Responsiblefor querying and extracting data from the Register database using Microsoft SQLServer:
toundertake our statutory responsibilities in responding to freedom ofinformation requests and parliamentary questions
toprovide data including disclosable protected patient information to externalresearchers in line with Regulations, ensuring that regulatory exclusions areappropriately applied
toenable responses to a broad spectrum of other high-level requests includingconsultations, legal cases, ministerial questions, and requests from clinicsand the Department of Health and Social Care
2.Lead onthe development of official statistics publications such as our flagshipcorporate publication, Fertility Trends, and reports on more specific topics ofinterest in the sector such as recent reports examining variations in fertilitytreatment access and outcomes by ethnicity see our Research and Data page.
3.Work toprovide accurate register data in a timely and accessible manner to assistother team members in data publications.
4.PopulatePower BI with regular extracts of register data and work with the team toensure that extracts continue to provide meaningful, useful and accurate datato meet the requirements of the intelligence team and external stakeholders
5.Liaisewith colleagues from across the HFEA on register data use, including the seniormanagement, inspection, compliance, legal, register and policy teams; and externalorganisations such as Department of Health and Social Care and researchestablishments.
6.Provideinformation on the structure and quality of register data over time, liaisingwith internal and external stakeholders including government bodies andacademic researchers to determine their requirements. Relay the strengths andlimitations of register data.
7.Work closelywith colleagues in the Register and IT teams, communicating analytical requirementsfor the research and intelligence team and translating back technicalspecifications.
8.Create advanced data models in Microsoft SQL andPower BI, including updates and maintenance to our award-winningHFEA dashboard.
9.Whenrelevant, provide line management support to other staff such as anyapprentices, and provide training in SQL and Power BI to team members asrequired.
10.Representthe HFEA at national and international conferences, seminars, external workinggroups or on internal panels/committees, presenting as required and whereneeded.
11.Maintain a production environment, encompassingchange control and release management
Understandingthe importance of data reconciliation mechanisms to provide measures ofconfidence
Managethe storing, handling and manipulation of register extracts, adhering to bestpractice information governance and management technology systems.
Providequality assurance for Register extracts produced by other members of the Researchand Intelligence team.
