Job description

Swindon, United Kingdom

Bournemouth, United Kingdom

Good things this way

As part of our Data & Analytics Industrial Placement, you’ll develop valuable skills and knowledge in data and analytics, all based within our high-performing Mortgage teams.

Our Mortgage teams’ ambition is to provide the best mortgage service in the UK and to help more people into homes of their own.

You’ll also gain exposure to product pricing, performance, customer research and process improvement.

Our Industrial Placements all provide a valuable opportunity to prepare for our Skills Development Programmes, an ideal next step for when you finish university.

Thrive within our high-performance culture as you experience hands‑on learning, tailored training, and a strong support network.

Where you’ll be working

Our Mortgages function brings together 3,000 colleagues, all working towards our mission to provide the best mortgage service in the UK. You’ll spend 12 months within one of our Mortgage Products or Business Services teams. You’ll build skills in trend analysis, reporting, insight generation, and explore the use of AI and machine learning to support decision‑making.

What you’ll be doing

Our Data & Analytics Industrial Placement is a 12‑month programme where you’ll gain valuable skills, knowledge, and experience to support your future career in banking. You’ll focus on developing product knowledge, monitoring performance, and working on projects involving product design, customer research, and process improvement.

You’ll work within the Mortgage Product and Business Services teams, where you’ll build skills in:

  • Mortgage pricing, learning how we price our products to meet member needs whilst delivering the right commercial return
  • Product development, helping us launch new products to meet member needs
  • Data and insight; building skills in data analytics to help us understand our customers better
  • Customer management, ensuring our products meet customer needs, deliver fair outcomes and operate in line with regulations

We’ll help you develop your analytical skills and commercial judgement, as well as giving you the opportunity to take insight and proposal papers to senior leaders and committees.

You’ll gain operational and administrative skills, and your own individual learning pathway to help you get the most from your time with us. You’ll also attend development workshops and complete a project with other placement colleagues, to support our Social Impact strategy.

Location

At Nationwide we offer hybrid working wherever possible. More rewarding relationships are supported through our hybrid approach, bringing colleagues together across our UK wide estate, whilst also supporting generous access to home working. For this job you’ll spend at least two days per week, based at either our Bournemouth, Swindon, London or Northampton office.

If we receive a high volume of relevant applications, we may close the advert earlier than the advertised date, so please apply as soon as you can.

  • From January 2026, all colleagues will benefit from private medical insurance
  • A highly competitive pension to help you build a strong foundation for retirement.
  • Access to an annual performance related bonus
  • Access to training to help you develop and progress your career
  • A great selection of additional benefits through our salary sacrifice scheme

If you’re inspired by fairer finances, passionate about making a meaningful impact, and truly care about our customers, you’re one of us.

At Nationwide, you are challenged to grow and rewarded for doing so. Valued. Recognised. Inspired to be your best. As a community we want our working lives to count. As a team, we celebrate what we achieve. As a standard‑setter, we work for the good of customers, communities, and broader society.

We are purpose‑driven. Uncompromisingly customer. Unstoppably Nationwide.

  • Feel what customers feel – We step into our customers’ shoes, using their feedback and insights to empathise with them and to understand their needs, so that every decision we make starts and finishes with our customers in mind
  • Say it straight – We are brave in speaking out and saying what we think – we’re honest and direct with good intent, openly sharing diverse perspectives to reach the best conclusions and using language everyone can understand
  • Push for better – We don’t settle for mediocrity, we challenge the status quo, taking responsibility for continuous improvement and personal development
  • Get it done – We prioritise what will have the greatest impact, we are decisive, and we take accountability for delivering brilliant customer outcomes.
