Job description
Overview

We wish to appoint a Band 6 MH Practitioner or Band 6 EMHP/CYPWP into our Cheshire Mental Health Support Team in Schools (MHST). The successful candidate will be working within our Wave 11 team, who predominantly work with 16+ age group. The Mental Health Support Teams are part of an NHS England / Health Education England project to improve the mental health and wellbeing of children and young people in the community, with a focus on increasing access to emotional support within secondary schools and colleges.

The CYPMHP/Senior EMHP/CYPWP role for MHST will be to support the delivery of all interventions provided by Education Mental Health Practitioners and ensure a wide range of evidence‑based interventions are used to support young people’s mental health. You will hold a caseload, support leadership, and contribute to the development of the MHST alongside the Clinical Lead and Clinical Coordinator, supervising practitioners and other senior colleagues in the service and within the borough.

Responsibilities
  • Support the delivery of interventions provided by Education Mental Health Practitioners and ensure use of a wide range of evidence‑based interventions to support young people’s mental health.
  • Hold a caseload and provide case management as part of the MHST.
  • Support leadership within the team and contribute to the development of the MHST alongside the Clinical Lead and Clinical Coordinator.
  • Supervise practitioners and other senior colleagues within the service and across the borough.
  • Promote positive mental wellbeing and contribute to assessment, delivery, and evaluation of mental health needs for young people accepted by the service.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Applicants should apply as a Children's and Young People’s Practitioner (CYPMHP) with a core professional qualification and meet all aspects of this job description, or apply as a Senior Educational Mental Health Practitioner (EMHP) or Children’s and Young People’s Wellbeing Practitioner (CYPWP) with the required qualifications and experience.
  • Demonstrable track record of CAMHS and/or MHST clinical and supervisory experience.
  • Ability to work within a multi‑professional team and contribute to service development.
