Qualifications

  • Hold a valid UK/EU/EEA Driving licence for at least 12 months with no more than 3 penalty points.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with customers and colleagues.
  • Experience in a customer-facing role is preferred.

Customers are at the heart of everything we do. As the face of Tesco out on the road, our Customer Delivery Drivers meet and talk to customers in their homes. This role is about more than driving: it’s about delivering great service with a smile and helping customers as part of a small, flexible team.

It’s a hands-on, physical role with variety. You'll deliver to customers, work closely with managers and colleagues back at base, and have the freedom to manage your shifts while staying supported by the team.

Availability

Availability window: days and times throughout the week. Shifts will be scheduled based on these windows with 3 weeks’ notice. If your available times match closely but not exactly, Tesco encourages you to apply.

Pay, hours and flexibility

Pay starts from £13.35 per hour, increasing to £14.56 inside the M25. Additional payments may apply depending on location. Tesco offers a minimum of 16 guaranteed hours per week, with options to work as few as 12 hours if desired.

What you’ll be responsible for

Delivering your part of the customer shopping trip by:

  • Keeping the van and trays clean, tidy, and organized
  • Leaving the delivery area clean and free of rubbish
  • Washing trays as part of the tray wash process
  • Loading the van and checking roadworthiness
  • Communicating any changes to orders, including substitutions, and offering refunds if applicable
  • Protecting and caring for products during delivery
  • Explaining substitutions and ensuring customers are not charged extra
  • Delivering within the customer’s time slot
  • Calling the customer if arriving early or if late by 30 minutes or more
