Overview

An opportunity is available for a LV-only Craftsperson Jointer based at Birmingham. In this role you will undertake jointing techniques up to 1000V, including excavation, cable laying, reinstatement and fault location on LV cables.

Evidence of your qualifications will be required prior to appointment. Progression to a higher salary may be available, subject to meeting specified knowledge, skills and competencies.

The Ideal Candidate

The successful applicant will ideally have experience working on the underground network and a NRSWA qualification is desirable. You are required to have 2 years' experience in an appropriate area of work. If not already completed, the successful candidate will be required to complete TAR (Tasks & Reports) which includes daily diary page completion, and a number of tasks and reports as required. You must be able to work on your own initiative as part of a small team, making on-the-spot decisions as required and working to tight deadlines. A flexible attitude is essential, as you will be required to undertake other duties to assist the team in meeting its objectives. The successful candidate will need to be mobile throughout the area as may be required to undertake standby duties, therefore a full UK driving licence is required. National Grid Electricity Distribution is committed to safeguarding the interests of the Company, colleagues and customers. This role is subject to a satisfactory Barring Service (DBS) check. Depending on the role, different levels of screening and vetting are required. Some roles require a triannual check.
