Job summary

A regional healthcare provider is seeking a qualified Counsellor to join their Talking Therapies team in Accrington. This role offers opportunities for one-on-one and online therapy within a supportive environment. The ideal candidate will hold a BACP accredited Diploma and have experience in counselling. Counsellor - Talking Therapies

We are excited to be recruiting for a full time qualified Counsellor to work in our supportive team here at The Mount. You will join our Talking Therapies team offering one to one, telephone and online therapy. We are open to flexible and hybrid working requests. The successful candidate will be joining a fantastic team of PWPs, Counsellors and CBT therapists who work collaboratively to deliver the best service and outcomes for clients. Health and wellbeing of staff along with investing in our team is important to us. You will receive regular supervision and will also have the opportunity to attend suitable training events to support your professional development.

Main duties of the job

In addition to core training as a counsellor, you must have an HEE Talking Therapies approved training qualification such as PCE-CfD, CCfD. For those qualified Counsellors who have not yet gained BACP Accreditation, we will support completion of this within your first 12 months in post. The post holder will work with people with different cultural backgrounds and ages, using interpreters when necessary and should be committed to equal opportunities. Person Specification
Qualifications
  • British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy accredited Diploma (or evidence of BACP 'Certificate of Proficiency' if Diploma was not BACP accredited)
  • Registered with BACP or evidence of working towards Accreditation with BACP and expectation that this will be completed within 12 months of taking up the post
  • NHS talking therapies compliant modality training suitable for counselling service e.g. PCE-CfD IPT CTfD BCTfD MBCT EMDR DIT (or currently undertaking training)
Knowledge
  • Knowledge of NHS structures and policy within a primary care context
  • Clinical and theoretical knowledge of at least one model of psychological therapy/counselling
  • Good record of Continuing Professional Development and willingness to continue this as part of local service developments
Experience
  • Experience of short term time-limited counselling
  • Evidence of regular supervised practice
  • Experience of promoting wellbeing and social inclusion
Skills
  • Ability to sustain intense levels of concentration responding and participating as required
  • Ability to cope with unpleasant working conditions
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills and communication skills both oral and written
