Cost Analyst

Tier 1 Rail Contractor | Midland Metro Alliance (MMA)

Birmingham - Summer Lane (Depot / Office Based)

40 hours | Monday - Friday

Office / site attendance required 5 days per week

The Opportunity

This is an opportunity to join a Tier 1 rail contractor working across the Midland Metro Alliance (MMA), supporting a portfolio of live urban light rail projects across Birmingham.

The role sits within the commercial / finance function, working closely with the Senior Commercial Manager and wider project teams to provide clear, accurate financial insight on project performance.

The Role

You’ll support the commercial and project teams by providing accurate financial data, analysis and reporting, including:

  • Supporting the preparation and presentation of project financial reports
  • Assisting with budgets and business plan preparation
  • Analysing actual costs vs forecasts across projects and programme activity
  • Managing the day-to-day financial aspects of contracts
  • Supporting change control and financial governance
  • Producing regular and ad-hoc financial reports
  • Carrying out reconciliations and performance analysis
  • Supporting monthly performance reviews with key stakeholders
  • Ensuring all commitments align with approved budgets or follow change control
  • Helping embed financial awareness across project teams

This is a hands‑on analytical role, close to live projects and senior stakeholders.

  • Experience supporting commercial or finance teams on live projects
