A local council is seeking a Chef/Cook to join Great Sankey High School, responsible for managing the catering service, ensuring high standards of food safety and nutrition. The successful candidate will lead the preparation and serving of meals, promote healthy eating, and ensure compliance with all relevant guidelines. This permanent role requires a commitment to delivering quality service to the school community.
Contract Type: Permanent- 37 hours, Term time only plus Inset days
Monday-Thursday 6.30am-14.30pm & Friday 6.30am-14.15pm

Purpose
The core purpose of this role is to develop, manage and monitor the in-house catering service for theschool.
Main Responsibilities:
To be responsible for co-ordinating the cooking and preparation and serving of all meals as per thedeveloped menu.
To ensure that all meals are produced to the same high standard and that the school’s Healthy Eating Policyand its commitment to providing a nutritious and healthy balanced diet is achieved.
To be responsible for ensuring that all food prepared and served complies with all government nutritionalguidelines.
To be responsible for implementing, monitoring and enforcing appropriate standards with respect tocleanliness, hygiene and food safety throughout the service areas and ensuring these are adhered to by allstaff.
To be the champion of healthy eating providing advice and guidance with respect to nutritional informationand driving the programme of healthy eating across the whole school community.
To adhere to the school’s Health& Safety(H&S) Policy and to ensure its compliance and ensure all necessarydocumentation relating to H&S, food hygiene, cleanliness is completed correctly as required and is availablefor audit.
To be responsible for the safe operation of all catering equipment, ensuring it is maintained in a clean andoperational condition and report any issues to the relevant person when required.
To ensure that the service provision meets the needs of the school and the pupils.
To be responsible for ensuring quality control of all produce is always maintained.
To be responsible for the planning, ordering, receipt, and storage of all stock.
To be responsible for addressing any issues relating to special dietary requirements including allergeninformation.
To be responsible for ensuring all necessary records relating to stock control, stock rotation, food orders etcare maintained and available for audit.
To stay abreast of new issues and changes relating to food hygiene legislation, nutritional guidelines andhealthy eating initiatives, developing and implementing any relevant aspects within the catering service.
To follow the agreed menu, appropriate for the style of service and to meet the requirements of ourcustomers.
To ensure that the published menu is adhered to at all times to satisfy customer demand.
To plan, develop and actively participate in any promotional activity to assist take up of school meals.
To engage with customers at all levels promoting the service and encourage meal uptake.
To identify new ideas for service improvement and bring forward for discussion.
To undertake appropriate training in order to carry out the full duties and responsibilities of the jobdescription.
To attend and contribute to meetings and working parties where required.
To carry our any other duties relating to the work of the division and appropriate to the post.
