Job summary

A leading engineering recruitment agency in the North East of England is seeking applicants for a role in control systems design and commissioning. Successful candidates will be responsible for developing PLC software and ensuring compliance with safety standards in marine and hazardous environments. Job description
Role

Successful applicants will join multi‑disciplined engineering teams delivering projects from concept, through to commissioning. Day‑to‑day responsibilities may include:

  • Design of control system circuits.
  • Generating control system design specifications.
  • Developing PLC software, HMI/SCADA systems and software.
  • Simulating and testing PLC and HMI software.
  • Configuring and commissioning inverter software drives.
  • Electrical schematic checking and approval.
  • Calculations and architecture checks.
  • Functional safety studies.
  • Reviewing designs against DNV standards.
  • Selecting and procuring control system components.
  • Contributing to sales proposals.
  • Liaising with suppliers for expediting purposes.
Applicant Requirements
  • Experience in the design and commissioning of safety automation and control systems for equipment in marine and/or hazardous environments.
  • Understanding of PLC programming for both safety and process applications, including the application of Functional Safety principles.
  • Experience with DNV and SIL.
  • A degree‑level qualification, or equivalent.
  • A valid UK driving licence.
