Overview
Are you a Contracts Supervisor with experience working on Highways or in the Civil Engineering sector? We are looking for your next permanent role with Tarmac. We are currently seeking an experienced Contracts Supervisor - Highways to join our team working on the East Anglia Pave project, ensuring programmes are completed with high safety standards and that financial contribution is maximised. You will manage and develop individual performance to ensure works activities are carried out efficiently to the agreed programme and specification, while developing and maintaining relationships with internal and external customers, clients and stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- As the Contracts Supervisor, deliver surfacing matters on behalf of Tarmac to our clients on contracts we operate, ensuring objectives and targets are achieved for successful overall project delivery.
- Manage on-site teams (internal or external providers) to obtain the best possible commercial result and manage any challenge processes that Tarmac’s clients may possess.
- Manage and control all aspects of machine control systems (e.g., Leica, Flex, Bomap, BPO, Trimble) including engineering. Basic engineering and IT platform training will be provided.
Other Responsibilities (not exhaustive)
- Effective planning, programming and delivery of the programme of works
- Achievement of Company and Contractual KPIs with year-on-year improvement of Contract/Scheme KPIs
- Ensure change controls are diligently managed on contracts and at site
- Effectively manage site teams to support career progression and competency
- Collaborate with Tarmac Health, Safety & Wellbeing advisor to promote best practice across all works
- Ensure Health and Safety standards are adhered to across all works and promote health, safety and wellbeing innovations with zero accidents and environmental incidents
- Ensure training qualifications and competence requirements are in place and monitored for all employees within the team
- Ensure CDM regulations (principal contractor responsibilities) are adhered to across all works
- Ensure environmental processes and best practice across the contract
- Deliver Health & Safety briefings to teams
You must be able to travel across the region of work.
The Ideal Candidate
Essential
- Experience in a similar role within the Surfacing industry with knowledge of on-site Health and Safety policies and procedures
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, providing leadership in the role
- Strong communication skills to liaise with stakeholders at varying seniority levels
- Proficiency in computer applications including Excel and Word
- Certificate in Site Safety Management
- Experience in Surfacing Maintenance at a supervisory level in surfacing works and construction
- CSCS card and SMSTS certificate
- Flexible approach to location and working patterns according to business needs
Desirable
- First Aid and Mental Health First Aid Training
- IOSH training
- NEBOSH certificate
The role is based from our Tarmac Norwich Office, Norfolk, and covers the East Anglia region including Norfolk, Suffolk and North Essex.
