Overview

Contract Engineering Lead (CEL) for the HPC Emergency Diesel Generator scope at EDF EPR Engineering UK (Hinkley Point C). Key responsibility: design and qualification delivery, acting as technical contact to project manager, suppliers, multi‑disciplinary team. Manage a team of about 10 Technical Leads, coordinate day‑to‑day activities, oversee testing during manufacturing, manage non‑conformance reports, technical acceptance of procedures, and support replication at Sizewell C.

Responsibilities
  • Lead engineering excellence for the HPC Emergency Diesel Generator contract.
  • Own design and qualification delivery, coordinating with suppliers and sub‑contractors.
  • Act as first technical point of contact for the Project Manager on engineering topics.
  • Manage a team of Technical Leads, driving progress and achieving objectives.
  • Oversee manufacturing testing, non‑conformance reporting, and technical acceptance of procedures and techniques.
  • Coordinate replication activities for Sizewell C, ensuring robust delivery across multiple sites.
  • Support project and commercial managers with technical input to contract discussions, correspondence and milestone approvals.
  • Monitor performance, report progress and drive delivery of design and qualification activities to schedule.
Qualifications
  • Degree in Science or Engineering (BEng, MEng, BSc, MSc).
  • Experience in engineering or project management, ideally in the nuclear sector or another highly regulated industry.
  • Proven background in the nuclear sector (or similar) and knowledge of HPC/FA3 projects, EDF BTSC processes or EPR nuclear safety requirements.
  • Experience overseeing contractor design deliverables, manufacturing procedures or complex systems such as diesel generators.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence senior stakeholders.
  • Confidence working in multi‑disciplinary teams, balancing priorities and coaching others to succeed.
