Our Values: in line with our One Coventry Values, we want to ensure that our communities are represented across our workforce and that we are an inclusive organisation that encourages diversity in all respects, including diversity of thinking. We particularly welcome applicants from minority ethnic, LGBT+, disabled and neurodiverse communities to make a real difference to our residents, so that equity and respect remains at the heart of everything we do.

  • Nurture and develop: We help and encourage everyone to be their best and do their best.
  • Engage and empower: We talk and listen to others, working together as one.
  • Create and innovate: We embrace new ways of working to continuously improve.
  • Own and be accountable: We work together to deliver the best services for our residents.
  • Value and respect: We put diversity and inclusion at the heart of all we do.
Job role

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join Adult Social Care Commissioning. The role is based within a multi-disciplinary team comprising Council Social Care and NHS nursing colleagues, as a Contract Officer. The team prides itself on delivering high-quality planning, commissioning, performance management, and improvement processes to drive change, innovation, and excellence in social care commissioning in line with national and local priorities.

This is a dynamic position, and you will be expected to multitask, highlight opportunities and risks, and build relationships with providers across the city. It will include regular communication with health and social care professionals and care providers, as well as recording, monitoring, and reporting accurate placement and provider information on an ongoing basis. You will develop the skills and knowledge to support the four Commissioning Managers as pressures arise across older people, mental health, learning disabilities and community services commissioning.

All candidates must have the Right to Work in the UK. We are currently not offering sponsorship for this role. This post is exempted under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and, as such, appointment to this post will be conditional upon the receipt of a satisfactory DBS check.

Who we are looking for

We’re looking for someone with potential, enthusiasm, and passion for driving up quality and helping us deliver the best possible services for Coventry's citizens. We value strengths-based, person-centred provision and supporting Coventry residents to live fulfilling lives independently. You will be adept at working as part of a team, but also able to work independently conducting quality review visits, so initiative, good judgement and risk management are essential.

You will need good analytical skills and experience using Microsoft packages, with a willingness to develop knowledge around quality assurance, social care provision and the needs of our citizens. You will be an excellent communicator and skilled at building and maintaining strong, professional relationships with a range of social care and health professionals and providers. With support, you will be confident in tactfully handling difficult situations and conversations. This role involves regular travel around the city and will require weekly inspections of residential and supported living schemes in-city and, on occasions, out of the city. This will involve climbing stairs and inspecting all areas of the home/scheme.
