Job description
Consultant Rheumatologist – Defence Medical Rehabilitation Centre (DMRC)

Overview

We are looking for a dynamic and enthusiastic Consultant Rheumatologist to provide high‑quality outpatient Rheumatology care within a multidisciplinary Defence Rheumatology Service (DRS) at the Defence Medical Rehabilitation Centre (DMRC) in Stanford Hall. The role requires sound judgement, the ability to deliver excellent care under pressure, and collaboration with wider defence medical teams.

Main Duties
  • Attend and lead rheumatology clinics and review clinics as per the job plan
  • Provide clinical leadership to deliver a high‑quality service and promote evidence‑based best practice in line with relevant literature and guidelines
  • Lead and support a team of Rheumatology Specialist Nurses and Allied Healthcare Professionals (AHPs) to deliver an occupationally focused Rheumatology and Rehabilitation service
  • Coordinate surgical, medical, rehabilitation, psychological and social care input to ensure a patient‑centred, integrated, biopsychosocial model of care
  • Act as subject‑matter expert, collaborating with the Civilian Service Manager or Officer in Command Force Regeneration in operational team lead roles
  • Supervise and train junior civilian and military medical colleagues, including audit & quality improvement projects (QIPs)

Selection Process

Applicants will be assessed at application and interview stages against CV evidence of required skills, knowledge, experience, qualifications and membership (Section 1), and against behaviours: Leadership, Effective Decision‑making, Communication, Developing Self and Others, Working Together.

Salary

£109,725 to £145,478 per annum, pro‑rata for part‑time.
