Job description

We are delighted to advertise two exciting opportunities within Ealing Mental Health Services and would be happy to discuss further with any dynamic and enthusiastic new or experienced Consultants.

Consultant Psychiatrist – Mental Health Integrated Network Teams (MINT) Ealing Acton

This is full time (10 PAs) role in which the Consultant Adult Psychiatrists will provide leadership and psychiatric expertise to our PCN based multidisciplinary integrated community mental health teams. There are 8 PCNs (primary care networks) in Ealing and each is supported by an MDT. One whole time Consultant Psychiatrist is allocated to each of the PCNs.

We are in a unique position in which each Consultant Psychiatrist is able to develop close links and work alongside GPs in one PCN and are in a unique position to join the Integrated Neighbourhood Teams developing well in Ealing. Our MINT offer enables comprehensive engagement with Integrated Care Systems using a whole person, whole population approach.

MINT has been developed to reflect NHS England’s Long Term Plan and the Community Mental Healthcare Framework with an ethos of The right care. At the right time. In the right place.

Consultant Psychiatrist – Ealing Liaison Psychiatry Team – Based at Ealing General Hospital

This is a full time (10 PAs) role working alongside other Consultant, medical, nursing and social work colleagues. Ealing LPS service operates the Core-24 liaison psychiatry model, in line with NHS England commissioning guidelines. The service provides rapid and effective input to patients in all inpatient wards and ED in Ealing. The service sees patients over the age of 16 regardless of address or GP location. ELPS operates 24 hours, every day. Out-of-hours medical cover is provided by the on-call medical rota. The ELPS has good relationships with hospital clinicians and leaders. The high-intensity user service is run jointly by LPS and ED consultants and includes a dedicated social prescriber.

The team receives about 250 referrals month in total. The majority come from ED. We operate a ‘fit for interview’ and parallel assessment policies in order to promote the ethos of medical-psychiatric integration and facilitate timely clinical care. Key performance indicators, monitored by the ICB, centre on response times, in line with NHS England commissioning guidance: 1hr for ED referrals and ward emergencies, and 4hr for urgent and 24hr for routine ward referrals.

We work closely with medical and nursing staff, ward therapists, hospital social workers and other allied health professionals. Our relationships with colleagues and services in the hospital, acute trust, mental health and social services are central to how we operate and the quality of our service.
