A leading UK healthcare trust is seeking an Emergency General Surgeon to provide clinical leadership and engage in teaching and professional development for junior medical staff. Responsibilities include senior clinician services to both the Emergency and General Surgery Departments, participating in quality improvement audits, and contributing to clinical governance projects. Work as an Emergency General Surgeon and to be involved in a sub-specialist area of surgery that will complement the interests of the department. Provide hands on clinical leadership to the emergency general surgery pathway operating in accordance with the operational policy. Contribute to teaching, including undergraduate teaching, and the teaching and professional development of junior medical staff. Share in the general administrative and management responsibilities of the departments and participate in the R & D programmes of the department. Participate in the supervision and training of specialty trainees and clinical scientists, teaching of other junior trainees, medical students and hospital staff as appropriate. Participate in clinical audit and quality improvement. Participate in service development and policy review. Participate in CPD and quality assurance activity including annual appraisal and re-validation. The following is not an exhaustive list of the duties of a consultant.
