A healthcare provider in Chorley is looking for a Consultant in Diabetes and Endocrinology. The role involves planning and developing services, providing direct patient care, and working within multidisciplinary teams. Candidates must have full GMC registration and significant experience in the specialty. This position offers a competitive salary range and opportunities for professional development.
The unit offers a wide range of specialist diabetes and endocrine services with a strong team-based focus. There are joint specialist clinics (diabetes foot, diabetes pregnancy, endocrine pregnancy, gynaecology endocrine and pituitary clinics) and links with paediatrics, vascular, podiatry, obstetrics, gynaecology, renal and neurosurgical departments. A diabetes centre is on the Chorley and South Ribble site; much outpatient diabetes work at Preston is delivered from the Minerva Centre. The post holder will help develop the local diabetes and endocrine service, with primary/secondary care links and opportunities to develop sub-specialty interests in diabetes and endocrinology.
The Directorate actively supports undergraduate medical education and has a dedicated Diabetes Specialist Team and access to a full range of dynamic endocrine tests. There are strong links with paediatrics, vascular, podiatry, obstetrics, gynaecology, renal and neurosurgical departments. A dedicated Diabetes centre is on the Chorley site, and the Minerva Centre at Preston hosts the outpatient diabetes work. The appointee will have opportunities to engage in undergraduate teaching and a postgraduate teaching programme.

Essential: Full GMC Registration and Licence to Practice; MBBS or equivalent; Substantive posts – must be entered on the Specialist Register (or entry within 6 months).
Desirable: Higher Medical Degree (MD or MSc).
Essential: On specialist register for Diabetes, Endocrinology and General Medicine; broad experience including significant work in area of specialisation.
Desirable: Obtained CCST/CCT through formal training programme.
