The on‑call will be at Colchester Hospital and most elective work will be planned at Colchester, with cross‑site work at Ipswich depending on interests. Duties include fixed or flexible operating theatre sessions and participation in the out‑of‑hours on‑call rota. The consultant will also cover general and obstetric on‑call work (frequency 1:16) and out‑of‑hours vascular emergencies. Resident on‑call covers Monday‑Friday 5‑10 pm and non‑resident overnight; weekend on‑call follows a shift pattern (Saturday and Sunday days 8‑8 pm resident, nights 8‑8 am non‑resident). The post provides a 3% availability supplement to non‑resident on‑call.
