Job description

(Flexible contracts | CESR support | Cross-site training opportunities | Relocation-friendly)

Looking for a role where you feel part of a team - not just a rota? Join us and get the career you want - and the lifestyle you’ve been looking for!

Join us in Northern Lincolnshire and discover a career (and a lifestyle) that’s a little different from the rest of the NHS. At our Diana, Princess of Wales Hospital in Grimsby and Scunthorpe General Hospital, we pride ourselves on something rare in modern medicine - a close-knit, family feel.

Everyone knows each other, the team is supportive, and you’ll quickly feel part of a community where your contribution genuinely matters. If you’re looking for more than just another consultant post, this is it.

We’re offering an opportunity to join a service where your skills will grow, your ideas will be heard, and your work-life balance will mean something. The successful applicant will have the opportunity to be appointed as Honorary Senior Lecturer at Hull York Medical School (HYMS).

Our Trust delivers a full range of emergency/secondary health care services including intensive and high dependency care. As a senior employee of the Trust the post-holder will work in close co-operation with, and support, other clinical, medical, professional and managerial colleagues in providing high quality healthcare to the Trust’s patients.

Responsibilities:
  • Delivering first-class clinical care to our patients, with opportunities to work in both Anaesthesia and Intensive Care.
  • Leading and teaching - from guiding junior doctors to supporting medical students through Hull York Medical School (HYMS), where you could be appointed as an Honorary Senior Lecturer.
  • Bringing your expertise to a varied and rewarding caseload in a non-hierarchical, team-focused environment
About you
  • Qualified & registered – GMC-registered with a licence to practise, trained to consultant level in Anaesthesia.
  • Proven experience – Skilled in Trauma lists and Critical Care, with a strong track record of delivering safe, high-quality patient care.
  • A mentor & leader – You take pride in supporting junior doctors, teaching medical students, and contributing to the growth of your team
  • Team-focused – You value collaboration over hierarchy, bringing a positive, solution-focused approach to every challenge.
  • Committed to growth – You see this as an opportunity to enhance your own expertise, gain exposure to subspecialties, and shape the next stage of your career

The Humber Health Partnership is one of the largest acute and community Partnership arrangements in the NHS, seeing well over one million patients every year and managing a budget of over £1.3 billion.

We believe that by developing a diverse, inclusive, innovative, skilled and caring workforce, we can deliver excellent care to our patients and a great future for our employees, our Partnership and our community.

Why join us?
  • Flexibility from day one – Permanent or fixed-term locum contracts available. Part-time hours considered. We’ll work with you to shape a job plan that fits your life.
  • Tailored to your career goals – Prefer a DGH setting? You’ll find variety across General Surgery, Orthopaedics, ENT, Ophthalmology, Maxillofacial, Dental, Urology, and Obstetrics & Gynaecology.
  • CESR support – Join colleagues already on the pathway and gain the experience you need to reach the specialist register.
  • Cross-bank opportunities – Option to split your time between our North and South Bank sites to broaden your skills.

We are committed to safeguarding the welfare of children/vulnerable adults and expect the same commitment from all staff and volunteers.
