Conference & Banqueting Sales Manager

Salary: Circa £33,000 + Bonus

Benefits: Laptop, 28 days holiday

Hours: 40 hours per week

Reports to: Sales & Marketing Manager and Reception Manager

Responsible for: C&B / Events Sales, Wedding Coordinator

Overview

We’re supporting a well-known hospitality venue seeking an experienced and organised Conference & Banqueting Sales Manager. This role focuses on managing all conference, events and wedding sales activity, leading internal teams and ensuring seamless communication across departments to maximise conversion and revenue.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the team handling all C&B, events and wedding enquiries, ensuring timely and efficient responses.
  • Implement and maintain an effective chase system for all bookings.
  • Lead daily and weekly targeted sales meetings.
  • Maintain promotional materials and point-of-sale activity throughout the venue.
  • Train and guide internal teams to follow the agreed sales and marketing strategy.
  • Identify business peaks and troughs and develop promotional activity to support quieter periods.
  • Ensure function sheets are accurate and fully reflective of event requirements.
  • Use the OSEM system to manage all bookings.
  • Maintain accurate sales trackers and reporting documents.
  • Work closely with the reservations and revenue teams to maximise business opportunities.
  • Liaise with operations teams to ensure smooth event delivery and accurate communication.
  • Oversee billing for conferences, events and weddings, ensuring charges are correct and completed on time.
  • Ensure contracts are issued and signed within agreed timescales.
  • Meet and greet conference organisers, checking satisfaction before departure.
  • Collaborate with the Revenue Manager and Sales/Business Development Manager to generate new business and leads.
  • Ensure Duty Managers and frontline teams are trained to take initial enquiries correctly.
  • Manage the Conference & Events office, including rotas and ensuring adequate cover.
  • Complete any reasonable tasks requested by senior management.
Requirements
  • Previous experience in a hotel conference & banqueting sales office at supervisory or management level.
  • Strong understanding of PMS and channel management systems (Opera, OSEM/S&C or similar).
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritise in a busy, fast‑paced environment.
  • High attention to detail and commitment to delivering exceptional guest service.
  • Proactive approach to strategy, sales and revenue opportunities.
  • Commercially aware with strong numerical and analytical capability.
