EK Outreach Services is a specialist provider of one-to-one teaching for students who are unable to access mainstream school environments due to medical, emotional, or learning difficulties. We work with students who have Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), providing individualised support to meet their specific learning needs. As a trusted SEND provider, we offer tailored educational support to help students overcome barriers to learning and achieve academic success. Our goal is to offer high-quality education, giving students the tools and confidence to succeed despite the challenges they face in traditional educational settings. Our holistic approach ensures that students receive not only academic guidance but also emotional and social support, fostering both personal and educational growth.

Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Computing Teacher to deliver one-to-one lessons to students with diverse needs, including those with SEND. In this role, you will teach and support students who are unable to attend mainstream schooling, helping them engage with Computing Studies through tailored and accessible lessons. Lessons may take place in students' homes, libraries, or other agreed-upon locations. Please note there are no online teaching opportunities with this role. All staff must be within the DN10 region, or be able to travel to this location.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and deliver individualised Computing lessons that are aligned with the student's academic level and learning objectives.
  • Teach a range of topics including digital literacy, programming, and computing theory at Level 3 or equivalent levels.
  • Promote scientific understanding, engagement and motivation in students.
  • Remain patient and flexible in the approach to learning by adapting lesson content and teaching methods to support students with SEND and other learning challenges.
  • Track and assess student progress, providing regular feedback to students, parents, and staff.
  • Possess excellent communication skills, and be able to work collaboratively with pastoral teams to ensure holistic support for each student.
  • Maintain thorough records of lessons and progress in line with educational requirements.
Requirements
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
  • Experience in Level 3 Computing.
  • Experience working with SEND students is highly desirable.
  • Excellent knowledge of computing subjects such as programming, networking, and digital technology.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and inspire students in a one-to-one setting.
  • Flexibility to work in various locations, including students' homes or other designated learning environments.
  • A valid DBS check (or willingness to undergo one).
