Job summary

Co-op Funeralcare in Hitchin is seeking a part-time Funeral Arranger to support families and coordinate funeral arrangements. The role offers training, a competitive salary (£13.47 per hour) and a strong pension, with 20 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 10am-2pm.

You'll build relationships with clients, manage documentation, and assist with preparing the deceased with care and dignity. No prior funeral experience is required; full training provided and benefits apply.

Qualifications

• Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Ability to handle cash, discounts, data entry, and invoicing.
• Keen eye for detail and accuracy with regulatory policies.
• Proficient with technology devices and basic software.
• Demonstrated empathy and discretion in caring for families.
• Ability to perform physical tasks such as moving coffins with training provided.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain positive relationships with clients and the community.
• Support clients in person and over the phone, arranging family visits and answering questions.
• Ensure the funeral home is clean, safe, and welcoming, reporting maintenance issues.
• Use digital systems to manage client documentation, funeral arrangements and invoicing.
• Refer all regulated work about funeral plans to the Funeral Plan Arrangers.
• Assist with manual handling of coffins and preparation of the deceased.
• Update client management applications with timely, accurate information.
