Job summary

Co-op is hiring a Funeral Arranger to join our team in Hitchin. The role is part-time (20 hours per week) with a schedule Monday–Friday, 10am–2pm. You’ll help manage client arrangements, support families, and ensure a respectful, professional environment in-store.

No prior funeral-industry experience is required; full training and ongoing support are provided, along with a competitive salary, a strong pension scheme, and product discounts.

Qualifications

• Clear communication with clients and colleagues in writing and verbally.
• Ability to perform basic calculations and cash handling.
• Attention to detail and regulatory compliance.
• Good IT skills with various devices.
• Passion for delivering great service.
• High empathy and discretion.
• Willingness to perform physical duties safely with training.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain positive relationships with clients and the community.
• Support clients in person and by phone, arranging family visits and answering questions.
• Keep the funeral home clean, safe and welcoming, report maintenance issues.
• Work with digital systems to manage client documentation, funeral arrangements and invoicing.
• Refer regulated work to Funeral Plan Arrangers.
• Assist in care and preparation of the deceased and manual handling.
• Update client management applications with timely information.
