Job summary

Co-op Funeralcare in Hitchin is seeking a Funeral Arranger to join our team on a 20-hour-per-week contract. The role involves direct contact with the deceased as part of duties, ensuring dignity and care, and handling client arrangements and invoicing using digital systems.

No prior funeral industry experience is required; full training and ongoing support are provided. The salary is £13.47 per hour plus benefits, with a pension, discounts on Co-op products, and other staff perks.

Qualifications

• Good communication with clients and colleagues, written and verbal.
• Ability to handle basic cash handling, discounts, and data entry.
• Attention to regulatory policies and accuracy in records.
• Proficient use of devices and systems for documentation and invoicing.
• Commitment to delivering excellent service and building relationships.
• High levels of empathy, discretion and care.
• Ability to perform physical tasks with training provided.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain positive relationships with clients and the community.
• Support clients in person and over the phone, arranging family visits and answering questions.
• Keep the funeral home clean, safe, and welcoming and report maintenance issues.
• Use digital systems to manage client documentation, funeral arrangements and invoicing.
• Refer regulated work (funeral plans) to Funeral Plan Arrangers.
• Assist with manual handling of coffins and care of the deceased for viewing.
• Update client management applications with accurate, timely information.
