Job summary

Co-op is seeking a Funeral Arranger on a 12-month contract in Braintree. The role is part-time (18.75 hours/week) with a hourly rate of £13.47 and benefits. You will support families, arrange visits, and help manage arrangements while maintaining a respectful and dignified service environment.

No prior funeral industry experience is required as full training is provided, and a range of Co-op discounts and pension are offered.

Qualifications

• Excellent communication with clients and colleagues.
• Ability to handle cash and basic calculations accurately.
• Attention to detail and regulatory compliance.
• Proficient with common IT devices and systems.
• Demonstrated empathy and caring in service roles.
• Willingness to perform physical tasks with training.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain relationships with clients and the community.
• Assist clients in person and over the phone; arrange family visits.
• Keep the funeral home clean, safe and welcoming; report issues.
• Use digital systems to manage documentation, arrangements and invoicing.
• Refer regulated work to Funeral Plan Arrangers.
• Assist with care and preparation of the deceased; moving coffins as needed.
• Update client management applications with accurate data.
