Job description
Overview

Rochdale Council have an exciting opportunity for a motivated, enthusiastic and passionate individual to join our fast-paced Community Safety and Resilience Service as a Project Officer. Whilst relevant experience is preferable, it is not essential. We will develop the successful candidate as part of our continuous professional development offer.

Responsibilities
  • Work closely with key partners of the Rochdale Safer Communities Partnership (RSCP), such as Greater Manchester Police, to help reduce crime and anti-social behaviour.
  • Work closely with our Community Safety Officers on a daily basis, preparing files in order to obtain civil antisocial behaviour orders.
  • Lead and coordinate crime and anti-social behaviour prevention/reduction work, activities, seasonal campaigns, days of action and legal action to support the achievement of our community safety priorities.
  • Support the service with the commissioning, project delivery and contract management of our schemes that are funded through community safety grants.
  • Be a key contact for residents and undertake regular resident engagement events that will feed into our policy development strategy and delivery.
  • Oversee CCTV projects which will involve liaising with contractors whilst managing improvements to the Borough's CCTV programme and ongoing maintenance requirements.
  • Coordinate partnership meetings focussed on anti-social behaviour and related crime & disorder (including young people) issues through collaborative problem solving.
  • The post holder will work from the Partnership Hub at Rochdale Police Station and will access police data, information and intelligence. The post holder must therefore satisfy Greater Manchester Police vetting processes prior to commencement of employment.
  • Our Community Safety & Resilience Service operates between the award winning 'Number One Riverside' council building and Rochdale Police Station as well as other locations across the borough as required. The role will occasionally consist of early morning, evening and weekend working dependent on operational need. The role will also require you to drive RBC vehicles therefore you must be able to drive independently throughout the borough. Post subject to DBS and Police Vetting checks.
Qualifications and requirements
  • Have excellent interpersonal skills, a positive attitude and a thorough approach to your work.
  • Experience with developing, leading, managing and co-ordinating projects/campaigns.
  • Experience of working with a large public sector (statutory or voluntary) organisation for at least a year, including participation in multi-agency work.
  • Good IT skills including a working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and database packages.
  • Ability to think strategically, analyse complex information, develop meaningful relationships and solve problems.
  • Amongst a number of benefits, we can offer you flexibility in terms of hybrid working at home and in the office and we will also support you with your continuous professional development.
