About the Role

We have an exciting opportunity to join our fast-paced Community Safety and Resilience Service as a Communities Strategic Lead (Community Safety).

As our Communities Strategic Lead, you will be responsible for leading and overseeing the Council’s Prevent and Hate crime plans, providing service level support to cohesion related duties and activities. This will include:

  • Providing specialist and subject matter advice to relevant services and agencies with regards to Cohesion, Hate crime, Extremism, Radicalisation, Prevent and Channel; ensuring the council remains up to date and compliant with changes in legislation and best practice.
  • Leading on the development, coordination and implementation of relevant community cohesion strategies and policies and the subsequent development and implementation of plans in relation to these work streams; reflecting a range of policy issues at a national, regional and local level.
  • Leading on the development and delivery of an effective local response to tackling cohesion issues and extremism within communities.
  • Building strong and effective relationships with voluntary and faith organisations, elected members, senior officers, partner agencies and key community representatives to develop and sustain community engagement, cohesion, and connectedness.
About you

To be successful in this role you will need the following:

  • Experience of providing specialist and subject matter advice to relevant services and agencies with regards to Cohesion, Hate crime, Extremism, Radicalisation, Prevent and Channel.
  • Experience with leading on the development, coordination and implementation of relevant community cohesion strategies and policies and the subsequent development and implementation of plans in relation to these work streams; reflecting a range of policy issues at a national, regional and local level.
  • Significant experience with building strong and effective relationships with elected members, senior officers, partner agencies and key community representatives and groups to develop and sustain community engagement, cohesion, and connectedness.
