Communication Systems Technician

The role

As a Communication Systems Technician you’ll be part of a team working on the Skynet project at an exciting stage of its evolution. You’ll help maintain and support critical infrastructure, ensuring systems operate to the highest standards. This is an entry-level role with plenty of opportunities to learn and develop your skills.

Day-to-day you’ll be

Supporting both scheduled and unscheduled maintenance activities, resolving engineering challenges, acting as the initial escalation point for fault diagnosis within the Skynet Network, and playing a key role in delivering first-line and second-line maintenance tasks.

  • Perform routine and scheduled maintenance of satellite systems, following work orders, service schedules and technical documentation.
  • Diagnose and resolve technical issues promptly and effectively.
  • Assist in preparing fault reports and accurately record all maintenance activities.
  • Maintain and support Skynet infrastructure systems.
  • Follow authorised procedures and manuals as directed by the Operations Support Supervisor.
  • Collaborate with operations teams to ensure service continuity through effective troubleshooting.
  • Adhere to site Health & Safety and Radiation policies to maintain a safe working environment.

Onsite at Colerne, Monday to Friday, 37 hours per week.

Essential experience
  • Technical background in an Engineering system discipline.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Experience in maintaining and diagnosing faults in communication equipment.
  • Experience of working to safety procedures.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
Qualifications

Security Clearance

Must be a sole UK national eligible to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) clearance. Eligibility may be affected by place of birth, nationality, citizenship and residency.
