The Role

A highly respected and forward‑thinking Scottish law firm is seeking an ambitious Commercial Solicitor (NQ-3 PQE) with a growing interest or grounding in Data Protection to join its leading Commercial team.

You will play a pivotal role in guiding organisations across multiple sectors through the complexities of UK data protection and information law. From compliance and policy development to risk management and incident response, you'll become a trusted advisor helping clients meet regulatory demands with clarity and confidence.

This is a genuinely impactful, client‑facing role where your insight will influence business‑critical decisions. The Work
  • Build and maintain strong, trusted client relationships
  • Draft and review privacy notices, internal policies, DPIAs, data sharing agreements and contractual data protection clauses
  • Advise clients on UK GDPR, Data Protection Act 2018 and wider UK data protection compliance requirements
  • Support clients in responding to and investigating data breaches, including regulatory reporting and engagement with the ICO
  • Assist with data subject rights requests including access, erasure and rectification
  • Deliver training to clients and support them in embedding data protection best practices
  • Collaborate with colleagues across departments to deliver integrated, commercially focused advice
Your Experience
  • Commercial Solicitor, NQ- 3 years PQE
  • Genuine interest in data protection, privacy and information governance
  • Strong analytical skills with a pragmatic, solutions‑driven approach
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to translate complex legal issues clearly
  • Strong organisational skills and ability to manage competing priorities
  • A collaborative mindset and the ability to work effectively with colleagues and clients
