What you’ll be doing

As a Commercial Property Claims Handler, you’ll be the first point of contact for new commercial claims – capturing key information, validating the claim and setting it up for the right next steps. You’ll make confident decisions early on, helping move claims in the right direction while balancing a great customer experience with smart cost control and revenue opportunities.

Reporting directly to the Commercial Claims Team Leader, you’ll:

  • Triage new technical and/or large claims – including Property, Subsidence, Environmental, Liability, Injury and Motor.
  • Handle retained technical claims end‑to‑end.
  • Spot, investigate and manage potential fraudulent claims.
  • Investigate and negotiate indemnity and liability, identifying opportunities for recovery.
  • Manage litigated cases, working closely with in‑house and panel lawyers.
  • Own and manage risks in line with the Direct Line risk framework.
  • Work within regulatory timescales and guidelines.
  • Keep customer experience at the heart of every decision, following Treating Customers Fairly principles.
  • Contribute to meeting all departmental targets and measures.
