They are seeking an experienced Commercial Manager / Quantity Surveyor to take a key client-side role overseeing post-contract commercial activities on a complex, high-value project. This hire will replace existing resource and offers the chance to work at the forefront of NEC-based commercial management within a structured, well-supported team environment.

You will lead commercial governance across the project, manage two Commercial Managers, and take full ownership of post-contract delivery, change control, and cost reporting. This is a role for someone who thrives on detail, communication, and proactive risk mitigation. Candidates with contractor backgrounds (particularly in civil engineering) are strongly encouraged to apply.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee and mentor two Commercial Managers on all commercial deliverables.
  • Manage all post-contract commercial activities under NEC contracts.
  • Lead package management, negotiation, and final account settlement.
  • Review, evaluate, and agree Compensation Events, entitlement assessments, and prolongation claims.
  • Produce and manage cost reports, ensuring accurate forecasting and robust cost control.
  • Drive cost avoidance strategies by collaborating closely with the contractor's commercial team.
  • Review methodologies, proposals, and design options to ensure solutions remain within budget.
  • Maintain full commercial oversight of project costs, risks, and opportunities.
Skills & Experience Required
  • Strong experience in commercial management on NEC-based projects.
  • Prior experience in major infrastructure or civil engineering environments (consultancy or contractor).
  • Proven post-contract commercial delivery skills, including change control and claims evaluation.
  • Strong cost reporting and financial management capability.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with contractor teams and influence outcomes.
  • Strong communication, analytical thinking, and negotiation skills.
What's on Offer
  • Salary: £75,000 - £82,000
  • Long-term client-side role on a high-profile UK infrastructure programme.
  • Supportive environment with progression opportunities.
  • Exposure to major civil engineering works with a reputable consultancy partner.
