Commercial IP Solicitor - Exeter (Associate / Senior Associate, 3-6 PQE)

A top-ranked UK law firm is looking for a confident and commercially minded Commercial IP Solicitor to join its highly regarded Public Sector team in Exeter . This is an excellent opportunity for an Associate or Senior Associate (ideally 3-6 years PQE) to take the lead on high-profile public sector projects at a nationally recognised firm.

You’ll work with an impressive client base of local authorities, utilities, central government departments, and other public bodies , advising on some of the UK's largest and most complex infrastructure and procurement projects. These span sectors such as telecommunications, regeneration, marine, housing, transport, energy , and asset management .

Your work will include
  • Advising on public procurement law , grant funding , subsidy control , and local authority powers (vires)
  • Supporting complex non-contentious commercial matters for public sector clients
  • Collaborating with a Partner and wider team to deliver clear, practical legal advice on major UK projects
The ideal candidate will have
  • Experience advising public sector clients or time spent in-house at a public body
  • Strong knowledge of public procurement law (essential)
  • Additional experience in commercial contracts or subsidy control (desirable)
  • Excellent drafting, analytical, and client-facing skills
  • Commercial awareness and an ability to manage work proactively and independently
