Commercial Contracts Manager

Job Description

The opportunity:

  1. You will have the opportunity to work within a business-critical area, contributing to the overall company business plan and making a real difference.
  2. Contract Negotiation: Lead the negotiation of terms and conditions for commercial contracts, ensuring alignment with company objectives and contractual compliance.
  3. Full Route to Contract: Manage the entire process during bidding, including cross-functional collaboration to deliver costs on time, proposal generation, and contract negotiations (reviewing, drafting, and agreeing on bespoke contract terms), while maintaining business viability.
  4. Contract Delivery: Ensure the business meets its commitments to customers through contract amendments, reviewing deliverables, and defining acceptance criteria.
  5. Contract Management: Oversee contracts throughout their lifecycle, including amendments, renewals, and closeouts, ensuring obligations are met.
  6. Compliance: Ensure all contracts adhere to applicable laws, regulations, and company policies, including ITAR, EAR, FAR/DFARS, and relevant defence standards.
  7. Business Winning: Play a key role in securing new work.
  8. Risk Management: Identify potential contract risks and collaborate with departments to develop mitigation strategies.
  9. Stakeholder Communication: Act as the primary contact for contractual matters, guiding internal teams and liaising with external clients and partners.
  10. Reporting: Provide regular updates to senior management on contract status, risks, and issues.
  11. Contract Dispute Resolution: Manage and resolve disputes swiftly in collaboration with legal and relevant departments.

What we're looking for from you:

  • Proven experience in commercial roles within a defence environment.
  • Experience in drafting, negotiating, and finalising contracts.
  • Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple contracts in a fast-paced setting.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, effective with cross-functional teams.
  • Familiarity with MoD contracting structures, including DEFCONs and QDCs, is preferred.
