A local authority in the UK is seeking a Commercial Contracts Lawyer for a minimum 6-month locum role. Responsibilities include drafting legal agreements, advising on compliance, and ensuring the Council's interests are protected. Ideal candidates will have public sector experience and strong local government law knowledge. This position offers an hourly rate of £60-£65 with 35 hours per week commitment.
Hourly rate: £60-£65 umbrella
Hours: 35 per week (additional hours subject to prior approval by Head of Legal)
Duration: Minimum 6 months
Our large local authority is seeking an additional Commercial Lawyer to join their in-house team. This locum lawyer's role will include providing legal advice and support for the delivery of the Integrated Settlement Fund (ISF) and associated legal outputs. The position is critical to ensuring compliance with statutory obligations while fostering collaborative relationships that deliver positive outcomes for the Council.
Qualified solicitor or barrister with strong experience in local government law.
Expertise in public sector procurement, funding arrangements, partnerships, contracts, and governance.
Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with a proactive and positive approach.
Ability to manage complex legal matters under tight deadlines while maintaining a solution-focused mindset.
The use of the legal case management system is essential, and all time worked must be recorded.
