Role overview
Product owner for a range of products within Hastings' Ancillary portfolio, responsible for all customer and commercial outcomes. Analyse performance using data and insights to identify opportunities for enhancing products and pricing; develop and implement strategies for ancillary products, delivering long‑term profitability and fair value whilst acting in the best interests of our customers.
Accountabilities
- Manage strong relationships with ancillary partners, ensuring effective commercial and contractual management and positive customer outcomes.
- Monitor trading performance and customer value outcomes, track trends and risks, and hold partners accountable for delivery.
- Ensure good customer outcomes, monitor customer value and mitigate potential detriment; support annual product reviews and value assessments; report to OpCo and Conduct Committee.
- Deliver strategic and tactical initiatives to improve commercial and customer outcomes, including product proposition and pricing reviews, claims process reviews, sales and in‑life journeys – working with Pricing, Operations, Claims, IT, Digital & Marketing.
- Respond to net rate reviews and challenge rating increases based on claims and loss‑ratio analysis.
- Lead, develop and implement ancillary product development strategies (provider, product, pricing, processes) to support commercial performance while ensuring fair value, regulatory compliance and reputational integrity.
- Lead ancillary partner strategy, selecting, overseeing and monitoring providers for allocated products.
- Support rectification of commercial or operational issues, collaborating with colleagues and third‑party partners to resolve issues.
- Support development of new products and propositions as they are introduced.
- Work across the organisation to explore broader opportunities within the ancillary value chain.
Essential skills/experience
- Experience working with highly regulated general insurance products within ancillary or claims functions.
- Results‑oriented, driving against commercial and customer targets.
- Commercial focus and ability to negotiate benefits for all parties.
- Innovative and driven, seeking opportunities to disrupt and innovate while continuously improving current practices.
- Strong stakeholder management in a fast‑paced, matrixed environment; building connections with other functions to embed strategy and drive trading outcomes.

2nd Round – Case study followed by a call with the Hiring Leader.
