Key Responsibilities
  • Provide support and care to patients with colorectal cancer and their families, acting as the key worker and bridging the transition of care between specialty teams.
  • Work autonomously and as a good team player, possessing excellent communication skills in a multidisciplinary setting.
  • Assist and ensure treatment is delivered within appropriate time‑frames in accordance with national cancer guidelines.
  • Collaborate with all members of the MDT at UHS and referring centres to ensure the highest level of specialist care and support.
  • Support the MDT in delivering high‑quality, holistic care from diagnosis to discharge.
  • Live the organisation’s values and foster a culture of learning, development and excellence in nursing care delivery.
  • Contribute to projects shaping models of specialist service delivery for the future.

Qualifications, Knowledge & Experience – Essential
  • Registered nurse on relevant part of the NMC register.
  • Degree qualification, 120 credits at level 6 or equivalent evidence of specialist training, experience or portfolio.
  • Significant post‑registration experience, including within relevant speciality.
  • Completion of all Band 5 (preceptorship) competencies.
  • Higher Education Institute approved course in supporting learners in practice or equivalent evidence.
  • Extensive post‑registration experience within a specialist area.
  • Knowledge of current issues within the acute health service.
  • Understanding of personal accountability.
