Job description

University of Dundee are looking for a skilled and motivated Collections Librarian to join our Library service, with a specialist focus on managing the University's journal and periodical subscriptions. This is a key role within our Collections team, responsible for licensing, renewals, discovery, usage analytics, Open Access transition models, and ensuring seamless access to scholarly journal content for our academic community. Working with Alma and Primo, you will maintain accurate holdings, support renewals and invoicing, analyse usage and cost-effectiveness, and provide specialist third-line support for complex access issues. You will also contribute to reading list support, sector-wide discussions, and evidence-based decision-making using tools such as COUNTER, Unsub, and Jisc Collections data. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who combines technical expertise, analytical ability, and a passion for supporting research and learning.

The post is based primarily at the Main Library, with travel to other sites as required.

Your priorities will include:
  • Managing journal and periodical licensing, renewals, and subscriptions, including invoices, subscription data, and budget tracking in Alma.
  • Ensuring accurate discovery and access through Alma and Primo and supporting reading lists and course material access for journal content.
  • Monitoring usage and cost-effectiveness using COUNTER, Unsub, and analytics tools.
  • Providing specialist third-line support for complex access problems.
  • Contributing to work on Read & Publish agreements and Open Access transitions and liaise with publishers, vendors, SCURL, and Jisc.
  • Producing evidence-based recommendations for collection development and improving workflows, documentation, and user experience.
