A local manufacturing firm in Leighton Buzzard is seeking an experienced CNC Turner for a permanent position. The ideal candidate will possess proven experience in programming, setting, and operating 2 axis turning machines. Responsibilities include producing precision parts and carrying out inspections. Job description
CNC Turner: 2 Axis CNC Turning – Late shift - Permanent

Salary: Depending on Experience Range £32k-£38k per annum flat rate = (£42,656k - £50,654k per annum including late shift premium rate at time plus one third).

Are you an experienced CNC Turner looking to work for a more established local manufacturing business? Do you have a passion for precision engineering, an excellent understanding of the turning process and can work to tight tolerances and surface finishes?

The client is a long-established business that specialises in the manufacture of low volume, high quality, tubular and threaded components for various sectors including Aerospace, Oil & Gas and Defense industries and due to continuous expansion, we are actively hiring for an experienced CNC Turner as are looking to expand our engineering team.

Experience Required
  • Proven time served experience in programming, setting and operating 2 axis turning machines.
  • Ability to write new CNC programs long hand at the machine with little or no supervision.
  • Experience programming using ‘Manual Guide i’ software.
  • Experience programming using G codes.
  • Also, editing prewritten programs, the full machine setup including material, tooling, speeds, feeds.
  • Carry out in-process inspection using measuring equipment.
  • Producing one off, as well as low to medium volume precision parts in a range of hard and soft metals.
  • Excellent working knowledge of 2 axis CNC machines, cutting speeds and feeds, geometric tolerances.
  • Solid understanding of interpreting engineering drawings and standards.
  • Experience of Fanuc controls would be advantageous.
  • Have a strong working history within the manufacturing industry within a machine shop environment.
  • Have a hands‑on, quality driven, positive, self‑motivated manner in order to be able to hit the ground running.
  • Confident in working on parts up to ¢300mm x 3m in length, using lifting equipment provided is preferred as some of our work can be large. Hoist training will be provided.
Package and Benefits
  • Salary depending on experience. Range £32-£38k per annum flat rate, however late shift premium is time plus a third.
  • The position is full-time and permanent, and an immediate start is available.
  • Hours are Monday – Wednesday 4.30pm – 3.30am, Thursday 4.30pm – 1.30am.
  • Holidays are 28 days including Bank Holidays + extra bonus holiday over the Christmas Period to ensure a full shutdown.
