Elevation Recruitment Group is delighted to be working exclusively with a highly reputable and rapidly expanding precision engineering manufacturer based in Leeds. Due to continued investment, new machinery, and increased demand, the business is looking to appoint an experienced 5 axis CNC Miller to join its skilled machining team.

Salary: £35,000 + Benefits

The Role: CNC Miller – 5 axis

As a key member of the machining team, you will be responsible for the programming, setting, and operation of 5-axis CNC milling centres to produce components to extremely tight tolerances. You will support continuous improvement activities, ensure quality standards are met, and help drive efficient production as the business continues to grow.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Set up and operate 5-axis CNC milling machines with Fanuc control
  • Prepare workholding, fixtures, tooling, and materials for production runs
  • Complete first-off inspections and maintain consistent component accuracy
  • Create, edit, and optimise CNC programs at the machine (Fanuc) or via CAM where applicable
  • Adjust tool offsets, speeds, feeds, and cutter paths to improve precision and cycle times
  • Resolve programming challenges, including complex multi-face and multi-axis machining
  • Select suitable tooling and cutters based on materials and engineering drawings
  • Monitor tool wear and maintain optimum surface finish
  • Identify opportunities to improve tool life and machining efficiency
  • Carry out in-process and final inspection using micrometers, height gauges, CMM (if applicable), and other precision measurement equipment
  • Ensure all components meet blueprint, tolerance, and GD&T requirements
  • Complete all associated quality and production documentation
  • Diagnose machining issues such as chatter, dimensional deviation, or poor finish
  • Perform routine machine maintenance and report mechanical or control issues
  • Support continuous improvement and lean manufacturing initiatives
  • Run multiple machines when required and support efficient workflow planning
  • Contribute to lights-out or semi-automated machining where suitable
  • Maintain accurate production logs and follow all established manufacturing routes
  • Follow all company safety procedures when operating high-speed cutting equipment
  • Handle coolant, swarf, and tooling safely and responsibly
  • Work to ISO9001, AS9100 or other industry-standard quality requirements

About You

Experience & Qualifications

  • 3+ years’ experience in 5-axis CNC milling within a precision engineering environment
  • Strong working knowledge of Fanuc control systems
  • Confident in programming at the machine (G-code) and/or using CAM software
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, 3D models, and GD&T
  • Experience machining a range of materials including stainless steel, aluminium, titanium, and engineering plastics
