Overview
Job Title: CNC Machinist - Lathe
We are seeking a skilled CNC Machinist with experience operating CNC lathe machines to produce high-precision metal components. The successful candidate will be responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining CNC lathes while ensuring all parts meet quality, safety, and production standards.
Responsibilities
- Set up and operate CNC lathe machines to manufacture metal parts according to engineering drawings and specifications
- Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and work instructions
- Load, edit, and run CNC programs using Fanuc and Mazatrol controls; make tool offsets and minor program adjustments as required
- Select, install, and change cutting tools, inserts, and fixtures suitable for metal machining
- Monitor machine performance and make adjustments to ensure optimal accuracy and efficiency
- Inspect finished metal components using precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, and gauges
- Identify and troubleshoot machining issues, tooling problems, and dimensional inaccuracies
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in compliance with health and safety regulations
- Perform routine machine maintenance and report any mechanical issues
- Meet production targets while maintaining high quality standards
- Work closely with engineers, programmers, and quality teams to improve processes and reduce scrap
Skills and Qualifications
- Proven experience as a CNC Machinist operating CNC lathe machines - namely Mazak and Ledwell
- Demonstrable experience machining metal materials (e.g., steel, stainless steel, aluminium, or similar)
- Experience working with Fanuc and Mazatrol CNC control systems
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
- Knowledge of metal machining processes, materials, and cutting tools
- Competent in using precision measuring equipment
- Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong commitment to quality and safety
- Experience with Solid Edge CAD software is desirable
Working Hours
- Monday to Thursday: 07:00 - 15:30
- Friday: 07:00 - 14:30
