Job summary

Penguin Random House in London is seeking an experienced File Storage Specialist to lead the migration of our enterprise file storage from on‑premises to cloud‑based solutions, including the Box migration.

You will work across Technology with application owners and suppliers, ensuring services stay stable and secure during the transition, and that legacy storage is retired only after replacement data and dependencies are fully tested.

Qualifications

• Strong hands-on experience with NAS and Windows file services (SMB/NTFS).
• Experience troubleshooting storage performance and access issues in an enterprise environment.
• Experience delivering storage migrations from discovery to cutover and retirement of legacy services.
• Ability to validate data integrity, metadata and permissions during migrations.
• Understanding of file/object storage and cloud/hybrid connectivity.
• Ability to investigate dependencies across apps, files, networks and identity.
• Experience in change, incident and problem management processes.
• Excellent technical documentation and runbook creation.

Responsibilities

• Leading migrations from discovery to data transfer, validation, testing and cutover.
• Maintaining secure, stable file services during transition; ensure rollback plans are in place.
• Managing permissions, AD groups, and service accounts with data owners and security teams.
• Producing clear technical documentation and runbooks; transferring knowledge to support teams.
