Job description

We currently have a vacancy in the haematology CNS service for a permanent Myeloma CNS. The individual will provide high-quality cancer nursing service to patients throughout their cancer journey, with responsibility for enhancing the patient experience, ensuring continuity of care and influencing patient pathways.

Are you self-motivated, enthusiastic, eager to learn and keen to develop the skills to work both autonomously and as part of a specialist multidisciplinary team? As a Band 7 you will be expected to meet the essential criteria, possess appropriate post registration experience in haematology specialist nursing and hold a relevant degree. Along with excellent communication, written and computer skills, you will need to be organised and able to work both autonomously and as part of the team. Through face to face and telephone contact, you will provide advice, support and information to patients and their families/carers. You will be expected to support nurse-led clinics and actively participate in audit and service improvement.

We also have the opportunity to recruit into this position as a Band 6 Developmental CNS. This opens up an opportunity for those keen to pursue a career in haematology specialist nursing who may not yet meet the Band 7 essential criteria.

We are looking for innovative individuals who would be interested in working within the haematology multidisciplinary team at Imperial Healthcare NHS Trust.

Responsibilities
  • Provide specialist nursing advice, care and support to patients with haematology cancer and facilitate high quality, individualised care to patients/clients and relatives/carers, both inpatients and outpatients in collaboration with the multi-disciplinary team and in line with local and national targets.
  • At all times ensure that the needs of the patient are placed at the centre of care delivery. Where appropriate acting as a ‘key worker’.
  • Work to improve the patient experience throughout the patient journey.
  • Deputise for their line manager in designated tasks relevant to the development of role/clinical specialty.
  • Act as professional role model, providing direct and indirect clinical care, teaching and research.
