Overview

Small Animal Clinical Director – maternity cover at Severn Edge Hub 4, covering Bewdley, Cleobury, Ludlow and Craven Arms. 12‑month fixed‑term contract. The role is based at the Craven Arms branch and offers a balance of first‑opinion care, in‑house procedures and supportive team environment.

Responsibilities
  • Provide first‑opinion small animal clinical care, with 20‑minute consults for vaccines and general health checks.
  • Perform surgeries, imaging and day‑care inpatient procedures on the site’s advanced facilities (ultrasound, CR‑x‑ray, endoscopy, in‑house blood machine).
  • Spend one day a week on dedicated admin duties while maintaining the bulk of the remaining days for clinical work.
  • Attend remote and on‑site meetings across the Severn Edge group and at Bridgnorth.
  • Support and mentor junior staff, student nurses and new graduate vets.
  • Engage with local charity partners for dog and cat welfare activities.
Qualifications
  • Veterinary graduate with experience in small‑animal practice.
  • First‑opinion clinical expertise, comfortable working up cases in house.
  • Optionally certificate holder in a specialty (surgery, dentistry, imaging, behaviour, reproductive medicine, etc.) – the role welcomes candidates eager to develop a niche area.
  • A leadership mindset – candidates who have not held a formal leadership role are welcome if the role is a step toward such a career path.
