Job description

Are you passionate about working alongside individuals experiencing acute mental health difficulties? Could you be part of a dynamic and innovative psychological service? The Oxford Crisis and Home Treatment Team (CRHTT) warmly invites applications for the role of Clinical/Counselling Psychologist. The Oxford CRHTT is an expanding team that remains in an exciting phase of transformation and development. This role offers an opportunity to provide meaningful psychological interventions for people in crisis or transitioning from a ward to their home environment. We recognise that Psychologists bring crucial skills to the service.

We want to hear from HCPC‑registered Psychologists looking to develop clinical and consultation skills. You would be joining a small, supportive team of psychologists who actively contribute to evolving care guidelines and the evidence base for crisis care. You would also receive support from the wider acute psychology service within OHFT and have access to developmental networks across the Trust and nationally. Supervision and management would be provided by the Principal Clinical Psychologist embedded within the CRHTT. CPD opportunities are available to consolidate skills in a focused, supported way.

Key Responsibilities
  • Contribute to the systematic provision of a high‑quality specialist psychology service for adults with severe and/or complex mental health disorders served by the Oxfordshire Crisis Resolution and Home Treatment Team (CRHTT).
  • Provide specialist psychological assessment and therapy to adults with severe and/or complex mental health needs.
  • Offer advice, consultation and supervision on clients’ psychological care to non‑psychological colleagues and to other, non‑professional carers.
  • Work autonomously within professional guidelines and the overall framework of the team’s policies and procedures.
  • Utilise research skills for audit, policy and service development and research within the area served by the team/service.
  • Support reflective practice, consultation, training and supervision of others, including Assistant and Trainee Psychologists.
  • Implement a thorough induction process for new starters, local and Trust‑wide, ensuring a supportive working environment.
  • Maintain statutory training and mandatory training relevant to the role.
  • Advocate flexible working arrangements where possible.

The successful candidate would have smaller caseloads and be able to work intensively in people’s homes to support their recovery.

General Information
  • Appointment to this post is subject to the Trust receiving satisfactory references covering three years of employment or study.
  • We welcome applications from all sections of the community and are an Equal Opportunities employer, supporting diversity and providing reasonable adjustments where possible.
  • We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and vulnerable adults.
  • Oxford Health works closely with the University of Oxford’s Department of Psychiatry and the Department of Primary Care, among others, and is involved in national research initiatives.
Benefits
  • Excellent opportunities for career progression.
  • Access to tailored individual and Trust‑wide learning and development.
  • 27 days annual leave, plus bank holidays, rising to 33 days with continuous service.
  • NHS discount across a wide range of shops, restaurants and retailers.
  • Competitive pension scheme.
  • Lease car scheme.
  • Cycle to work scheme.
  • Employee Assistance Programme.
  • Mental Health First Aiders.
  • Staff accommodation (note waiting lists may apply).
  • Staff networking and support groups hosted by the Equality, Diversity & Inclusion team.
