Clerk to Local Academy Council (LAC) – St Bernadette Catholic Primary School, London Colney, Hertfordshire

Employer: All Saints Catholic Academy Trust

Location: St Bernadette Catholic Primary School, London Colney, Hertfordshire

Contract Type: Permanent (term‑time only, approx 2.5 hours per week, 95 hours per annum)

Salary: £2,148 per annum

Start Date: As soon as possible

Responsibilities
  • Provide effective administrative support to the Local Academy Council (LAC).
  • Advising on governance, constitutional and procedural matters, duties and powers of the LAC.
  • Managing LAC meeting records, agendas and minutes and ensuring accurate and timely distribution.
  • Coordinating council meeting logistics, including travel arrangements for council members and securing suitable meeting venues.
  • Preparing and distributing routine correspondence and undertaking general reception duties to provide a professional and welcoming environment for council members.
  • Ensuring councils are in compliance with governance processes and term‑time statutory governance requirements, safeguarding the school’s interests and promoting good practice.
  • Flexibility required for council meetings that may take place outside of school hours.
Qualifications
  • Strong attention to detail, good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to deal with sensitive information with discretion and maintain confidentiality at all times.
  • Previous experience in an educational or governance role is an advantage, however full training will be given.
Safeguarding & Checks

All staff and volunteers are required to understand and share the Trust’s commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults. The successful applicant will be subject to an enhanced DBS check. Two satisfactory references must be provided and any other safeguarding checks required at the time of appointment will be applied to the pre‑employment process. All offers of employment are conditional and subject to safeguarding checks being met successfully.
