Job description

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Clerical Officers to join our busy administration teams within Medicine at North Tyneside General Hospital.

Please note we reserve the right to close this vacancy prior to the closing date once the required number of suitable applications have been received.

The successful candidate will provide transcription, administrative and secretarial support service to the team. The post holder must be able to use own initiative, work under pressure, keep to strict deadlines and have excellent organisational, interpersonal and communication skills.

Knowledge of IT packages and applications is essential. G2 and SystmOne software knowledge desirable but training will be provided. ECDL and knowledge of PAS and previous experience of working within the healthcare environment would be desirable.

We manage three major locality hospitals at North Tyneside, Wansbeck and Hexham, plus a number of smaller community hospitals and clinics from Tynemouth to Berwick on Tweed, in addition to our state‑of‑the‑art Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care Hospital, the first of its kind in England. We also care for people in their homes and provide services from facilities in local communities such as health centres. We give people greater choice and control over their care to help them to live independently at home and avoid hospital admission where appropriate. Responsibilities
  • Assist in the general efficient running of sub‑specialty offices including typing/G2 transcription, filing, retrieval and storage of patient records, handling post and dealing with telephone enquiries.
  • Cover for other Band 2 Clerical jobs as required.
  • Act up to Band 3 for short‑term absences e.g. annual/sick leave.
