Job summary

NHS Professionals is seeking a Clerical Officer to join the Doncaster & Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals NHS FT team on a temporary basis. You will handle reception, patient records, and booking appointments, with telephone duties and prompt message handling.

The role emphasizes patient-facing experience, administrative duties, and effective communication. You'll work Monday, Thursday and Friday, 9am-5pm, within the NHS environment and benefit from NHS Professionals' support and flexible temp

Job Title: Clerical Officer

Hours: Monday, Thursday & Friday - 9am - 5pm (22.5 hours per week)

Location: Doncaster & Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals NHS FT

Trust Location: Sandringham Centre, First Floor, Sandringham Road, Intake, DN2 5JH

Contract Type: Temporary until 31st December 2026

What you ll be responsible for:
  • Answering the telephone, ensuring all messages taken are noted and dealt with promptly.
  • Reception of patients and preparation of patient records etc.
  • Booking of all appointments and associated paperwork.
  • Dealing with enquiries, questions, problems on a daily basis effectively and promptly, either face to face, by telephone or other communication device.
You ll learn the following whilst working at the trust.
  • An in depth understanding of the roles and responsibilities involved in working within the NHS
  • Knowledge of the systems used, to effectively complete your role to the highest standard at all times
  • A sense of teamwork, gained through working alongside and supporting colleagues from all levels, within the organisation
You ll have the following skills/experience:
  • Previous experience of dealing with patients face to face.
  • Previous experience of working within an administrative role.
  • Previous experience of conducting emails.
