Job description
Job Summary

The successful candidate will work within the GE Aerospace Wales Engineering team in a Support Engineer capacity. The role is office based but requires a large percentage of time to be spent on the shop floor working with maintenance technicians. The scope of activities ranges broadly from providing day‑to‑day technical support to maintenance technicians to working on long‑term engineering projects, either as part of a team or in an individual capacity. The role will provide exposure to hardware from the GE90 and CFM56 product lines and requires effective collaboration with internal and external stakeholders to deliver results across Engineering, Operations, Planning, Quality, Sourcing and EH&S. The position will require shift working including days, afternoons and one in three weekends.

Roles and Responsibilities
  • Provide day‑to‑day technical support to maintenance technicians on the shop floor.
  • Compile technical documentation to support engine and component maintenance.
  • Compile local policies to meet regulatory requirements and standard operating procedures within the Engineering team.
  • Vetting engine manuals and other OEM and customer published data.
  • Engage in engineering project work to reduce maintenance costs and improve engine/component TAT using lean principles.
  • Implement digitisation of engineering processes.
  • Coordinate several projects/tasks simultaneously and influence stakeholders.
  • Maintain strong analytical and communication skills.
Qualifications
  • MEng, BEng, MSc or BSc in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering or equivalent engineering discipline.
  • Relevant experience in an appropriate engineering role; internship or trainee time applicable.
Desired Characteristics
  • Ability to compile concise and accurate engineering documentation.
  • Ability to effectively interpret OEM technical publications such as engine manuals and Service Bulletins.
  • Effective cross‑functional teamwork.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
