We are supporting a leading UK engineering contractor delivering major EPC projects across the power, water, utilities, and energy infrastructure sectors. They are seeking a Design-Focused Civil Engineer to join their engineering team on a 12-month contract.
Scope of Work
- Lead and support civil design activities for multi-disciplinary infrastructure projects, including power generation facilities, water treatment works, energy storage installations, and process engineering sites.
- Produce and review civil design packages covering earthworks, reinforced concrete foundations, drainage networks, chambers, ducting routes, access roads, retaining structures, bunds, and general site infrastructure.
- Prepare detailed engineering calculations, drawings, models, and technical specifications in line with UK and Eurocode standards.
- Develop 2D/3D civil models, site layouts, and design drawings using industry-standard software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and Revit.
- Carry out drainage and hydraulic modelling using MicroDrainage or similar tools.
- Support structural assessments and foundation design using packages such as STAAD, Tekla, or Robot Structural Analysis (where required).
- Coordinate designs with MEICA, electrical, structural, and process engineering disciplines to ensure fully integrated solutions.
- Provide technical support throughout the project lifecycle including concept, FEED, detailed design, construction support, and commissioning.
- Assess buildability, sequence considerations, and temporary works requirements to ensure deliverable, safe, and cost-effective designs.
- Review subcontractor/supplier technical information and ensure compliance with project design requirements.
- Support preparation of tender documentation, BoQs, design reports, and technical submissions.
- Respond to site queries, provide design clarifications, and update drawings or specifications as required during construction.
- Contribute to CDM design risk assessments, HAZOP/HAZCON processes, and project close-out including as-built documentation.
Experience Required
- Proven civil engineering experience within the power, water, utilities, or process engineering sectors, ideally with EPC or MEICA-integrated project exposure.
- Strong technical background in civil and structural design including earthworks, reinforced concrete, drainage, ducting, and site infrastructure.
- Proficiency with civil engineering design software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Revit, MicroDrainage, STAAD, Tekla, or similar tools.
- Strong understanding of UK design standards, Eurocodes, CDM Regulations, and relevant industry guidance.
- Ability to prepare, review, and check engineering calculations, drawings, models, and technical documentation.
- Excellent organisational, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams and client representatives.
