Job description
About the Role

Ready to lead engineering excellence at one of Europe's largest infrastructure projects? Want to shape the future of nuclear energy and help Britain achieve net zero? At EDF, Success is Personal - and with us, your career journey is yours to shape.

The Opportunity

EDF EPR Engineering UK (EPR-E) is tasked with delivering the design for several nuclear island (NI) buildings, systems, and equipment contracts for the Hinkley Point C EPR Project. This involves working through an integrated team, supporting HPC construction and commissioning efforts, and preparing design replication feasibility and engineering activities for the Sizewell C Project. As a result, a Technical Directorate is being established to oversee the engineering disciplines and technical expertise needed to successfully deliver these projects through EPR-E's integrated teams.

As Chillers Commissioning Engineer for the HPC Nuclear Island project, you'll take the lead in producing commissioning documentation and supporting the successful delivery of the chillers scope. You'll act as the key interface between the EPR-E commissioning team, the customer, and the on-site Commissioning Engineering Team (CET), helping to resolve open points and ensure readiness for test execution.

You'll join us on a competitive salary. This is a hybrid role based at #AztecWest, with some flexibility to work from home - though you'll be expected in the office at least three days a week.

You'll also coordinate with the Contracts team to review and track technical and commissioning documentation from the Chillers Contractors. This is your opportunity to play a vital role in one of the UK's most ambitious low-carbon energy projects.

Who You Are

We're looking for a Chillers Commissioning Engineer who's structured, collaborative, and delivery focused. Do you offer

  • Experience managing commissioning activities across all project phases—from preparation and execution to close-out.
  • Strong organisational skills to coordinate stakeholders, assess data maturity, and maintain accurate study files.
  • Ability to produce and review deliverables in line with engineering procedures and project standards.
  • Support for I&C function testing and resolution of commissioning open points raised by the customer.
  • Confidence in monitoring progress against schedule and budget and updating risk registers as needed.
  • A proactive approach to stakeholder engagement across client, design, commissioning, contracts, and construction teams.
  • Familiarity with EDMS systems and document approval workflows.
  • A degree in a relevant engineering discipline and experience working within a regulated, multi-disciplinary environment.
What You'll Be Doing
  • Preparing commissioning activities by confirming project data, stakeholder roles, and input maturity, while identifying risks and capturing operational experience (OPEX).
  • Producing and reviewing deliverables in line with EPR-E engineering procedures and incorporating lessons learned from other EPR projects.
  • Monitoring and supporting commissioning documentation from contractors to ensure alignment with project standards and expectations.
  • Supporting I&C function testing at the test bay in France and addressing commissioning open points raised by the customer.
  • Tracking progress against schedule and budget, updating risk registers, and maintaining accurate study files throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Finalising deliverables through stakeholder approval and ensuring proper documentation storage in the EDMS.
  • Collaborating closely with stakeholders across NNB, EPR-E, and contractor organisations to ensure alignment and smooth delivery of the chillers commissioning scope.
Pay, Benefits and Culture

Alongside a competitive starting salary, potential for an annual bonus, and a market-leading pension scheme, your package will include customisable benefits such as electric vehicle leasing, discounted gym membership, life assurance, tech vouchers, experience days, and more.
