Responsibilities
- Promotion of wellbeing across the organisation, including Mental Health First Aiders offering wellbeing support from trained colleagues and free weekly yoga sessions in person or online.
- Access to our Employee Assistance Programme for you and adults at your home.
- Work as part of a residential childcare team providing support for the children and young people with their physical, emotional and social needs, with an emphasis on promoting their personal growth and independence.
- Prepare and assist the children and young people to fulfil the aims of their person‑centred plan.
- Support the children and young people with communication and work closely in a team that has a passion to improve their lives whilst in our care.
- Work flexibly to undertake the full range of duties in a well‑planned way that respects and values the children and young people as individuals.
- Provide compassionate, nurturing care for the children and young people who are in crisis and have complex needs, supporting them to move on from a difficult past to a brighter future.
- Support the Trust in complying with the apprenticeship funding rules; the successful applicant must prove right to work in the UK without additional approval for more than 20 hours each week throughout the year and an eligible residency status for the purposes of the apprenticeship funding rules.
Qualifications
- Good communication and interpersonal skills. You’ll be expected to liaise with other staff, parents/carers, and professionals.
- Ability to work on your own initiative and as part of a team, taking the lead when required, maintaining and encouraging open and honest communication.
- A good standard of written English and IT skills; you will be writing reports and keeping a record of the Children and Young Peoples progress.
- Transporting children/young people to an activity or school is a requirement. A driving licence that has been held for 12 months would be desirable.

Work conditions and Benefits
- Hours – 37.5 hours per week, on a 7‑day rota with 2 non‑working days each week.
- Salary – £24,700 per year with an hourly rate of £12.67 per hour. Travel and sleep‑in pay £100.80 per shift.
- Weekend working enhancement – 25% uplift on the hourly rate (£15.84 per hour) for weekend shifts.

- Salary estimate: £28,771 per year (estimated).
- Annual leave 27‑day holiday plus 8 days bank holidays, rising to 30 after 5 years, 33 after 10 years.

Our children’s home in Davenport, Stockport provides residential care for Children and Young People with complex behaviour and attachment difficulties. We are a not‑for‑profit charitable trust, so every penny goes back into benefiting the people that we support.
